Musicians have been creating and playing jazz for over a hundred years, and many musicians lived and played in New Orleans. Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, and Duke Ellington are some of the first famous Black musicians who played jazz in New Orleans in nightclubs, and later on records and throughout the world.
Turn on Dizzy Gillespie and Billie Holliday, tap your feet and move your hips, and and cook New Orleans BBQ shrimp.
1 teaspoon each red pepper, basil, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika
1 1/2 pounds large head-on shrimp
1/2 cup butter
3 cloves garlic
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup beer (or chicken broth)
Directions
Peel and devein shrimp.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
Saute shrimp and garlic in half of the butter for 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat. Keep tossing shrimp so they do not burn. Add 2 tablespoons of seasoning mix, beer, and Worcestershire. Add more seasoning to taste, if desired, and saute for 1 minute more. Add rest of butter and serve immediately.
